Inventory Pets
- Are you tired of wimpy pets that always get themselves killed and don’t do what you ask?
- Looking to add awesome fun and new abilities into your game world?
- Searching for super cute (and often deadly) friends that will stay by your side through thick and thin?
Ever wanted to make a fountain of sheep dance over the open ocean?
If you answered YES to any of the above the questions, that’s really swell. But we’re here to tell you about Inventory Pets, not to ask questions.
What are Inventory Pets?
Inventory Pets are living animated creatures that exist in your inventory and give you amazing special effects, drops, buffs, utilities, defenses, and weapons in exchange for care and feeding. Plus, some pets, such as the Purplicious Cow, are especially handsome. There are now a total of 69 awesome, unique pets with mind-bending skills and fancy tricks.
How do Pets Work?
Inventory Pets have unique and powerful abilities that become active when they are in your inventory hotbar. These effects expire if they are taken out of your hotbar or they have not been fed. Bad owner!
How do I get an Inventory Pet?
Inventory Pets can be acquired in three different ways:
Crafting: All pets are craftable using vanilla Minecraft materials. Material requirements are higher for rarer and more powerful pets.
Finding: Pets can be found in six Dungeons: Sea Caves, Cloud Dungeons, Treetops, and Underground Dungeons in the Overworld. Nether Dungeons found in Lava Lakes in the Nether, and Space Dungeons found in the End.
The Petrifier: A special rare wand that can turn many worldy objects directly into pets provided you have a Diamond or Nether Star in your inventory.
Using a Meta Pet: Combine 3 to 4 pets in the crafting table to create a Meta Pet. Use pets from the same category to give you a Meta Pet from that same category. The 'rarer' the pets combined, the higher your chance at a special or legendary pet.
Please note the 1.18.2, 1.19.2 & 1.20.1 versions require the Curios API

Features
Pet Namer
Just press the letter 'n' while holding any pet and you can give it a name. No experience necessary!

Feed Bag
Keep all your pet foods in one bag, and keep the bag ANYWHERE in your (vanilla) inventory. Your pets will find their food and eat from it directly.

Recipe Key
Here's an example recipe for the Creeper. Emerald Nuggets on the Outside, his favorite Food at the Top Center (Gunpowder), Diamond in the Center, and Gold Ingot at the bottom.

Most pets follow the above recipe structure. Materials for each pet (except Legendary) are listed above with the individual pets.

O = Outside Layer
F = Food
D = Diamond (usually)
G = Gold Ingot
We recommend using the mod JEI for in game recipe lookup.
Dungeons

There are 6 total dungeons in Inventory Pets. Each one is protected by enhanced monsters or special traps. There is a small percentage chance of Legendary Pets dropping from these dungeons. The new Dingot Pet (only available in 1.21.1) can help direct you towards these dungeons.
Sky Dungeons are found in the Overworld. They are protected by Blazes, which only appear when you are near the Chest. This is the only place you have a chance to get a Cloud Pet.
Sea Caves are found in Oceans, and are protected by underwater breathing Cave Spiders. This is the only place you will have a chance to find the Pufferfish Pet.
Underground Dungeons are protected by fast-moving Zombies. This is the only place to find the Slime Pet.
Treetops are found in regular Forests, Birch Forests, and Jungles. While they do not have guardians, they can can spawn TNT. This is the only place where you have a chance of finding the Sun Pet.
Nether Dungeons are found in lava lakes in the Nether, and are guarded by Wither Skeletons.
Space Dungons are found in the End, and are the only place where you can find the Black Hole pet. They are protected by invisble enemies. You will need a Cloud Pet or other mode of flight to find them.
